Biography
‘If I had to describe my practice, I would say that it is Collaborative – for me, art is a collective process. Conception and application is a team effort. It is a space where differences are affirmed while concurring. Installative – I place sculptures, people, images, and sounds in space and times. I create links between them to establish a durable and relatively autonomous commonality, then observe potential developments. Dramaturgical – these installations tell stories without saying them. The sculptures, bodies, movements, and sounds are the elements of a silent language that embodies forgotten stories and future myths.’
Laura Sellies is graduated from ENSBA Lyon and Creative writing University Paris 8. From 2014 to 2020 she collaborates with Amélie Giacomini. She intervenes in places include Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, Salon de Montrouge, and La Monnaie de Paris, the Dakar biennial, the Wilfredo Lam art Center in Cuba, BF15 in Lyon, Triangle in Marseille, or the Contemporary Art Institute of Villeurbanne. She did a residency at the French Academy in Rome, Villa Medici.
